Jenapher Zheng is a Chinese-American actor and multi-disciplinary artist from Alhambra, California. She was one of eleven students in her year to be admitted to the prestigious CalArts Acting Program, where she trained extensively in scene study, voice acting, movement theatre, improv, and immersive/interactive production.
Upon graduating, she gained her equity card by performing at East West Players, which led to theatre productions at La Jolla Playhouse, South Coast Rep, Hollywood Bowl, San Diego Old Globe, Disney REDCAT, and the Geffen Playhouse. Her work in film has been shown in festivals such as SXSW, and she has appeared in commercials for Playstation, East West Bank, Lexus, and McDonald’s. She is an active part of the immersive theatre community, performing in works incorporating ASMR and gaming at secret spaces throughout Los Angeles.
In her hand-built home recording studio, she provides audio description for movies and shows on Netflix, Hulu, Disney Plus, as well as the big screen. In voiceover, she has performed in works by the VR company TenderClaws, Niantic’s mobile game Ingress, and animated shorts by CalArts students and independent artists. Her narration for audiobooks can be found in releases from Brilliance Publishing and Learning Ally, and her podcast work can be found on NPR, Atypical Artists, and the geek-interest show PanGeekery.
As a writer, her scripts have been produced at the Hollywood Fringe as well as in short films and plays. Her poetry and prose have been featured in web publications such as It’s Real magazine. She is currently a writer/editor for a new AAPI graphic novel series by Kwento Comics.
She enjoys cosplaying, Twitch-streaming under the moniker JenZany, painting, and eating hot and sour soup.
